Kane County Hospital Expansion & Remodel

Kane County Hospital serves rural Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. Big-D was contracted to expand and remodel their existing critical care and swing-bed facility to increase the size and capabilities of the emergency room, surgery recovery, and pharmacy. The security infrastructure, hospital lab, imaging department, and waiting areas were also remodeled during the project. Project challenges included minimizing disruptions and ensuring staff and patient safety during construction on an operational healthcare facility and logistical and manpower challenges associated with the rural location. Project successes included outstanding value engineering savings which enabled funds to be reallocated to construction a new three-bay ambulance building which included classrooms and a large conference room, additional earthwork upgrades and additional stormwater detention ponds.
