    The Newport Academy is a remote, live-in residential treatment academy for high-risk teens. Big-D was engaged to provide design assistance and construction services to renovate the existing multiple-building campus, previously known as The Oakley School. The project included renovations to the Gymnasium, main Academy Hall, and two identical, two-story dormitory buildings. The Gymnasium Hall is a 15,840-sf building with a multi-purpose gym with basketball court, weightlifting area, admin offices and storage, art studio, yoga studio, music room, and game lounge. The Dormitories are each 6,200-sf dorm buildings comprised of 16 individual dorms for students, staff, and house parents. Each dorm features a common area lounge and laundry facilities. The Academy Hall is a 25,732-sf structure and the main building on campus. This main Hall includes numerous classrooms, commercial kitchen and dining room, new group therapy room, nurse/medical offices as well as administrative and staff offices.
