Project Description
In 2012, Westcore Properties acquired a 42 acre, mixed-use site in California. The site, initially built for grocery distribution and processing, featured a vacant industrial building, two distribution buildings, and an office building. Westcore demolished the office building and one of the manufacturing buildings and hired Big-D Construction to build a new warehouse building.
Located in the heart of the San Francisco Bay area and Silicon Valley, the Westcore Kato Manufacturing Warehouse, dubbed 47400 Kato Road, is a 302,000 square-foot facility. The warehouse sits on 15.88 acres and includes 54 loading docks on two sides of the building – making it a “cross-dock” facility. The building has 32-foot-high ceilings, column spacing, and an ESFR sprinkler system. Strategically placed skylights encourages natural light to illuminate the warehouse, cutting down on energy consumption.
Construction on the new facility took just 10 months to complete.
