Project Description

With its completion of the Elizabeth Stewart Treehouse Museum in Ogden, Utah, the museum represented a bold first step in Big-D’s efforts to help city leaders revitalize the downtown Ogden area.

A shimmering skylight in the center of the museum sheds light on a 30-foot, interactive tree sculpture with branches that extend more than 28 feet beyond the trunk. Winding its way through the center of the tree is a spiral staircase, which opens-up to reveal a children’s activity deck and a second set of steps leads “adventurers” away from the activity deck to another level of exciting educational exhibits.

The mission of the Treehouse Museum is to be a magical place where children can “Step into a Story” through interactive exhibits and programs. The museum first opened its doors in 1992.

Upon completion of this vitalizing community project, Big-D donated their construction fees back into the museum—proving that, sometimes, money really can grow on trees—but only when you Think Big.
