Imagine an entire football field completely covered in more than 6-feet of concrete. Though that isn’t ideal for any professional sporting event, the amount of concrete it would take to cover an entire football field (including the end zones) is exactly the amount used to construct the Towne Ridge Parking Garage in Sandy, Utah. If you were to park all of the trucks needed to transport the concrete to the project site, the line would extend more than 11 miles!
The four-story concrete structure provides nearly 1,100 parking stalls to the Towne Ridge Center. The engineered post-tensioned concrete decks on levels 2,3 and 4 are less than 6’’ thick with beams that have a clear-span of more than 60-feet. The concrete work on the Towne Ridge Parking Garage was done entirely by Big-D Construction.
