Converting a large facility from one purpose to a significantly different purpose always presents a challenge to a construction company, but this project was unique: Select Portfolio Servicing, Inc. (SPS) selected Big-D Construction to convert a multi-auditorium movie theater and fun center to a 165,000-square-foot office complex. It required a complete renovation and rebuild.
We began by stripping the building down to the outside walls and existing mezzanine. The rebuild consisted of new offices, conference rooms, restrooms, and a kitchen/break room. Work on the exterior was minimal: we installed new sidewalks, generator and trash enclosures, and exterior steel stairs. Once we completed the renovation portion of the project, the owner installed 1,600 new cubicle work stations to finish off the call center.
