Project Description

Located in Ogden, Utah, McKay-Dee Hospital is the 3rd largest hospital in the Intermountain Healthcare system and the 4th largest hospital in the state of Utah. As the population in Northern Utah continues to grow, the McKay-Dee Hospital needed to expand to accommodate the need. The project involved expansions of all four floors of McKay-Dee Hospital, which extended to the east. On the first floor, the education center added two rooms, a 200-plus-seat theater-style auditorium for the latest educational technology, a large multi-function reception hall and an outdoor patio adjacent to the existing pond. The education center will provide hands-on simulations for employees of the Intermountain Healthcare network.

The second floor added six patient rooms for the Joint and Spine Service Center. Expansion of the third floor has six additional intermediate-care patient rooms, and expansion of the fourth floor is shelled space used for technical equipment supporting the floors below. Ten patient rooms were also added to the rehabilitation center.

The project was awarded the 2015 Excellence in Masonry Design.
