Project Description

Big-D Construction was chosen to complete building three after completing Cottonwood Newpark buildings one and two. This 62,891-square-foot, three-story office building included the core and shell and provides Class A office space at the Newpark Town Center in Kimball Junction, UT. Common areas finished included lobbies and corridors, stairs, elevators, mechanical penthouse, electrical rooms, restrooms and shower rooms. The exterior skin consisted of cut stone headers, cut stone medallions, stacked stone columns, glazing, and exterior insulation finishing system (EIFS), accented with canopies and a cornice.

The building is steel and concrete construction with a single-ply roofing membrane. The mechanical equipment is located in a penthouse on the roof. A standby generator is located on grade. Site work included earthwork, utilities, landscaping and hardscape and an additional 123-stall parking lot.

The building is registered with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and is pursuing LEED Silver certification. The project incorporated several sustainable features including recycled construction waste; local materials; high efficiency glazing at each floor plate; low- or no-VOC emitting materials; materials with high amounts of recycled content; high efficiency lighting, HVAC and plumbing fixtures; and low water-use landscaping.
