Project Description
The 61,980-square-foot City of Crystal Public Works Building will replace an outdated public works facility for the City of Crystal and is designed to include offices, locker rooms, conference rooms, an employee lunchroom, 90-foot-wide-drive-through vehicle storage bays, two underhung overhead bridge cranes (3-ton and 2-ton), a wash bay, a vehicle hoist and high-speed efficiency doors. The facility also features storm water treatment ponds and tanks, a “brine room” to mix salt with water for salting roads, a utility shop and mechanics’ bays.
The project is comprised of insulated precast concrete panels, some of which is cladded with metal panels, a joist and deck roof structure and a single-ply roof membrane with skylights. The 5.3-acre site is primarily covered with asphalt with an exterior wash bay, a fueling station, covered storage areas and minimal landscaping. The building also features an energy-efficient geothermal heating system.
