Project Description
The Salt Lake International Airport is growing to accommodate the influx of families moving to Northern Utah. Currently, Big-D Construction, Holder Construction – a Joint Venture (HDJV) is constructing a new terminal and concourse as part of The New SLC Airport Redevelopment Program. However, that is not the only construction project at or near the international airport. Big-D’s Light Commercial Group recently completed construction of a new Fixed Base Operations (FBO) complex for Atlantic Aviation Services.
Atlantic Aviation has had a presence at the airport since 2015, when it purchased the former Salt Lake Jet Center. Since then, the company has spent millions of dollars on several projects, including a brand-new FBO complex. The project consisted of the construction a 12,900 square-foot FBO building; two 30,000 square-foot, pre-engineered aircraft hangers with an additional 13,000 square-feet of office space.
The new terminal features a clerestory lobby with unobstructed views east and west of the Salt Lake Valley; a gas fireplace; a break area; a pilots’ lounge; flight-planning area; two conference rooms; and on-site car rental. The new hangers are heated and provide storage for transient and tenant aircraft. Big-D also provided utility installation, concrete work, and landscape work.
