Big-D Project Crowned ‘Champion of the Year’

Big-D Construction garnered several Excellence in Construction awards from the Utah Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), including the inaugural ‘ABC Champion of the Year’ award. During its annual State Convention and EIC Awards Dinner in April, ABC awarded the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Center of the Arts project the ‘Champion of the Year’. The project also won the Excellence in Construction award for Institutional Over $10 Million.

Big-D’s Unified State Laboratory project won the Commercial Over $20 Million award. The following projects received Honorable Mention accolades:

• O.C. Tanner Corporate Headquarters, Renovation Over $5 Million
• Cabela’s Retail, Commercial $5-$10 Million
• Intermountain Healthcare Park City Hospital Outpatient Expansion, Healthcare Over $5 Million

“It is an honor to receive these awards from ABC,” said Big-D President, Forrest McNabb. “These awards reflect the longstanding relationships we have with these great customers, our subcontractors and suppliers, the design partners, and our amazing employees.”

In addition, Big-D’s safety program received recognition from the ABC Utah Chapter and the Utah Labor Commission. Big-D was presented with the 2016 Annual Workplace Safety Award and ABC’s Gold Level STEP Award. Both awards recognize Big-D’s commitment to promoting an exemplary safety culture. “Safety is the highest priority on all of our projects,” said McNabb. “We remain committed to achieve ZERO harm on our jobsites with our nationally-recognized TH!NK safety program.”
