SALT LAKE CITY – OCTOBER 8, 2013 — Big-D Construction (www.big-d.com) recently promoted several employees:
Leon Nelson promoted to Project Director
Leon Nelson brings over 22 years of construction experience to his new role. He has been with Big-D for over 5 years, serving as Project Manager and Senior Project Manager. He has been an integral part of the success of many projects, including the $1.2 Billion Utah Data Center and the Utah Museum of Natural History.
In his new role, Nelson, who earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Utah State University, will provide overall leadership to the project teams from strategically bringing in new customers and projects, to planning the preconstruction through final completion of his projects.
Mike Sant promoted to Director of Preconstruction
Mike Sant brings over 19 years of construction experience to his new role and has been with Big-D for over 8 years as a Senior Estimator. His ability to understand the needs of our owners and ability to manage the design to cost has made Sant a highly sought-after manager by our customers on a repeat occurrence.
Prior to working with Big-D, Sant worked as a carpenter, superintendent and estimator. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Construction from Arizona State University.
John Kemp promoted to Director of Preconstruction
John brings over 15 years of construction experience to his new role and has been with Big-D for more than 7 years as a Senior Estimator. His abilities in preconstruction and estimating allow each building to be designed to budget and managed to completion. John has provided great leadership over the past several years with the LDS Temple projects (Brigham City and Philadelphia), along with supporting and managing the preconstruction and estimating for our Intermountain Healthcare projects over the past 5 years.
Kemp earned a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from Brigham Young University, with a minor in Business Management.
