Located at the base of the ski slopes in Teton Village, Walk Festival Hall is a celebrated landmark by both concert attendees and performers.
Originally constructed in the early 1970s, the Walk Festival Hall includes an ideal combination of clear sightlines, vaulted ceilings, warm acoustics and rustic materials which creates a beautiful setting on the lower slope of the Teton Range.
Big-D performed as the CM/GC on this 17,157-square-foot, complex renovation project. Completing the Walk Festival Hall Remodel required intricate phasing in order to maintain a peaceful atmosphere for winter and summer guests since the Hall is located central to several hotels as well as the gondola and tram facilities at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The first phase of work began during the fall months and consisted of the addition of structural insulated panels (SIP) at the exterior of the building. Limited access to the project site and around the structure required the use of a tower crane and swing stages for the workers to maneuver each panel into place. Big-D further mitigated the problems of limited access and staging areas by utilizing an off-site staging area and carefully coordinating just-in-time deliveries.
During the winter ski season, the interior-renovation phase was completed including a renovation of the 750-seat concert hall, an acoustical renovation, new box office and concessions area and new restroom facilities. Big-D incorporated seismic upgrades to the existing structure by reinforcing the structural connections for the stadium-seating flooring in the concert hall. Once the snow melted, work resumed at the exterior of the building and concluded with the hardscape and landscape work in time for the concert season.
One of the main challenges for this project was the strict schedule which required working around the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s ongoing operations and the Grand Teton Music Festival’s summer concert series. Additionally, the owners requested a number of modifications that were incorporated without any impact to the schedule.
