Big-D’s construction of St. Mark’s five-story Women’s Pavilion has made it possible for the hospital to provide expanded services for women.

Project Description

Big-D’s construction of St. Mark’s five-story Women’s Pavilion has made it possible for the hospital to provide expanded services for women.

The 179,745-square-foot Women’s Pavilion comprises of four stories reserved for medical services and a fifth story built as an on-grade parking structure. The two lower floors of the facility were finished to accommodate a Women’s Diagnostic Center, Breast Care Center, Labor and Delivery and Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The two upper floors were left unfinished to provide physicians’ offices in the future. The building’s exterior features a steel External Insulation Finish Systems (EIFS) cladding system.

The project also involved some remodeling and tie-in to St. Mark’s existing patient tower, installation and upgrade of utility services from an existing energy plant and new roadways. Big-D completely remodeled and enlarged the existing CT Scan room, added a new MRI room and remodeled and enlarged the PACU Intensive Care, Urgent Care and Operating rooms. The St. Mark’s Hospital was required to remain operational during construction, with minimal disruptions to daily activities.
