To remodel and expand their Salt Lake City headquarters, O.C. Tanner chose a contractor with attention to detail and quality.
- Utah Construction & Design - 2016 Outstanding Small Commercial Office Project
O.C. Tanner offers fine jewelry and employee recognition programs worldwide. The company has been voted as Fortune’s 100 Best Places to Work for. In order to accommodate a growing business model and a growing workforce, O.C. Tanner invested in an expansion of its headquarters. To remodel and expand their 300,000 square-foot Salt Lake City headquarters, they chose a contractor with attention to detail and quality.
Phase I included two packages:
Work Package 1: We constructed five loading docks on an alternate elevation of the existing building, a refinery service area, and a dock addition; relocated a shipping/receiving area away from their main entrance; extended the product delivery conveying system; and remodeled ~10,000-square-feet for bathrooms, offices, manufacturing cells, and a new physical therapy room.
Work Package 2: To offer a feel for O.C. Tanner’s “Great Work” culture, we demolished 16,000 square feet of their two-story building and constructed a 20,000-square-foot Grand Entry with exterior plazas, fountains, gathering spaces, conference rooms, and a lecture hall for approximately 1,000 people, which can be viewed through an operable glass partition wall and divided into four spaces. We added a staging area for their Chef and team, and a new Grand Hall, over 30’ high at its peak and over 150’ feet long, with a random-pattern maple wood wall, leads into headquarters. The dark stone flooring provides a sleek base, tying in with Bavarian limestone on walls. Wood and metal ceilings quiet the space. We added floating staircases to the lecture hall and the glass-enclosed Norm Tanner Room, which replaces the Customer Care Center and overlooks the Grand Hall. Adjacent, the Design Team has a remodeled 7,000 square foot center. An LCD screen in front of the Grand Hall’s conveyor displays recipient and award information. Three touch screens offer a virtual OC Tanner experience in the Grand Hall.
For Phase II, the same Big-D team is re-skinning the remainder of the 300,000 square-foot facility to match the SW Addition. We coordinate renovations with O.C. Tanner as this affects every occupant and group space around the building’s perimeter.
We completed all work safely while providing minimal disruptions to the more than 1,000 employees on campus.
