The new building will help handle the growth experienced by Stryker over the last few years.
Big-D Construction was selected as the design-build contractor for the new 300,313-square-foot manufacturing distribution center that will service the Stryker Corporation, maintain 108 jobs and create an additional 10 jobs. The facility, leased to Kenco Logistics Services, will exclusively service the Stryker Corporation medical division, also known as Stryker Medical. The new facility replaces an existing Kenco building at the Midlink Business Park. The new Kenco building will handle the growth experienced by Stryker over the last few years. With 17 loading docks and 120 truck trailer parking spots, the Portage Road facility will handle production materials and will be the final processing, packaging and distribution of manufactured goods. It will also store and manage research and development and test lab equipment and manage trial and demonstration product.
The project included precast walls with a steel and joist roof. Big-D crews installed 17 operating loading bays with precast. The fire protection system has a 600,000-gallon water storage tank and a pump. Site plans approved by the city also include the potential for a 200,000 square foot addition. Construction on the new Kenco distribution center took 10 months.
