Sevier Valley Medical Center (SVMC) serves the populations of three rural counties in Utah: Sevier, Wayne, and Paiute. Although its patients are spread over a large area, they add up to a substantial whole, and they have a very broad range of needs. SVMC needed more room for services and needed to comply with privacy regulations under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Big-D Construction recently completed a major remodel and addition project that will help SVMC give patients the best care possible.
In the first part of a planned phased replacement of the hospital facility, Big-D demolished the west wing of the SVMC to make way for a new 45,226-square-foot, two-story addition. The new addition doubles the square footage of the existing hospital. It houses medical offices, administration offices, and outpatient services such as laboratory, radiology, drive-through pharmacy, nuclear medicine, and computed tomography (CT). Outside the facility, we constructed parking areas on the north side of the hospital, and, once the addition is complete, we will demolish the Family Practice Clinic across the street and create an additional parking area there.
The Sevier Valley Medical Center is owned by Intermountain Healthcare.
