Once complete, the Hills at Sandy Station will offer luxury apartments from as small as a studio to as large as a 3-bedroom unit. The complex is perched on the east side with views of the city skyline and Wasatch Mountains.

Project Description

Big-D Construction worked to help resurrect a housing development in the community of Sandy, Utah. For years, construction on the second phase of The Hills at Sandy Station remained on indefinite hold. Those living near the project were reminded of the delay with the sights of unfinished foundations and apartment buildings. Weidner Apartment Homes then acquired the site and brought Big-D Construction in to finish the project.

Before crews could begin to construct the new, 146-unit wood-framed apartment complex, the existing foundation system had to be demolished and removed. Big-D crews determined that the existing foundation had deteriorated to point that it was not salvageable. Crews applied Certi-Vex Guard Clear that creates a hydrophobic gel that will stop the intrusion of water, salts, deicer chemicals and acids. The same product is used by the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) on concrete barrier walls on freeways.

The complex is perched on the east side with views of the skyline, valley, and Wasatch Mountains. Amenities include a Health and Wellness Center, an outdoor pool, and a clubhouse. Those living at the Hills at Sandy Station are conveniently located to the Utah Transit Authority’s (UTA) light rail train. The TRAX train provides service to downtown Salt Lake City, as well as the Salt Lake City International Airport. Residents are also in close proximity to the South Towne Mall, Jordan Commons, and the South Towne Expo Center.
