Two recently completed Big-D projects received accolades from the Engineering News-Record Mountain States region. The publication announced the winners of its annual Best Projects competition. Winning projects from Big-D include the Home Depot Distribution Center in Ogden, Utah and the Cornerstone at Cottonwood Corporate Center Phase 2 project in Salt Lake City.
The 260,000 square-foot distribution center for Home Depot is unique in that it features a rail line that allows Home Depot to move products in and out of the facility seamlessly. Inside, the warehouse also features a “drive-thru” lane that provides the flexibility to move multiple semi loads inside the facility. The project also earned accolades from the Associated Builders and Contractors – Utah Chapter and from Utah Construction & Design Magazine.
The Cornerstone at Cottonwood Corporate Center Phase II project consists of an 180,000 square-foot addition to Phase I. The new building stands four-stories and connects to the first office building (also constructed by Big-D) through an elegant three-story class lobby. This project also earned accolades from the Associated Builders and Contractors – Utah Chapter.
This is the 18th year for ENR’s Best Projects awards. A panel of nine judges across all areas of the industry selected winners from the more than 100 entries.
